GENEVA, 24 May 2024 – JRR is pleased to announce it completed an external independent evaluation mandated by Finland and conducted by an independent company, COWATER, between September 2023 and March 2024. The positive results of the evaluation are a testimony to JRR’s ability to answer it’s partners’ needs in terms of highly technical expertise to bolster justice and accountability efforts worldwide.
The report notes a high level of responsiveness from JRR, a high level of satisfaction among requesting entities, and the critical contribution of JRR in the qualitative improvement of investigations, especially on SGBV, gender equality and a victim-centred approach. The findings are overwhelmingly positive and reflect on JRR’s work beyond the scope of the evaluated contribution.
“We welcome the findings and recommendations of the report. We believe this is a testimony to JRR’s central role in justice and accountability efforts. These findings will guide us while pursuing our mission consisting in the promotion of the rights and access to justice of victims and survivors of serious human rights violations and international crimes,” said Samuel Emonet, Executive Director of JRR.
JRR welcomes the recommendations of the final report to further strengthen our organization. Many of them echo the strategic orientations decided by the JRR Executive Board in December 2022 – including a more systematic approach to our gender-justice work, the establishment of a stronger connection between our three programmes and the improvement of our M&E methodology. We are also pleased of the recommendations addressed to our donors to consider continuing and expanding their support, allowing JRR to meet the growing demand for its expertise and partners needs, and to work towards the harmonization of application and reporting requirements.
