New OMCT Tool on Documentation of Serious Human Rights and International Crimes in Ukraine

The World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) just published the “Roadmap for the investigation of crimes against humanity committed by Russian forces in Ukraine in the context of the full-scale invasion.” The objective of this roadmap is to increase the capacity of civil society organisations to conduct investigations of the crimes of torture, taking into account the standards of evidence and jurisprudence of the international criminal tribunals.
Justice Rapid Response was pleased to provide highly technical expertise from its Roster of justice and human rights experts to support OMCT. JRR experts contributed to strengthening the capacity of the OMCT’s local CSOs partners in Ukraine, namely the Media Initiative for Human Rights and Human Rights Centre ZMINA, to document and report on torture as an international crime committed in the context of the war in Ukraine, and integrate a gender-sensitive and intersectional approach in their documentation efforts.
