Launch of GCPEA’s Legislative Check List to Protect Education in Armed Conflicts
On International Day of Education, the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) launched its new Legislative Checklist, a practical tool designed to support lawmakers, justice actors, and policymakers in strengthening domestic legal frameworks to safeguard education from attack.
JRR was proud to support the GCPEA through the deployment of a Legal Advisor that organized an expert roundtable to gather input from justice professionals to strengthen accountability for education-related crimes, and that contributed to the development of the Checklist itself. This new tool will be added to the GCPEA’s existing toolkit.
Since then, Colombia, in collaboration with the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, became the first State to pilot the Legislative Checklist.
