Gerald STABEROCK Named New Executive Director of Justice Rapid Response
13 May 2026, GENEVA – The Executive Board of Justice Rapid Response (JRR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Gerald Staberock as its next Executive Director. He will succeed Mr. Samuel Emonet as of September 1st, 2026.
Mr. Staberock is a distinguished human rights lawyer and leader, with three decades of experience in the human rights movement. His career includes leadership roles at the World Organization Against Torture, the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), and the OSCE. Beyond his deep expertise in human rights and justice, Mr. Staberock brings exceptional strengths in public communication, resource mobilization, and partnership building, key assets for guiding JRR into its next chapter.
The Executive Board of JRR extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Emonet for his decade of transformative contributions to the organization, first as Director of Operations and, for the past four years, as Executive Director. Under his leadership, and alongside the dedicated JRR Team, the organization has grown into the strong, recognized force it is today. During his tenure, JRR harnessed the collective power of its expert roster to advance a holistic, gender-sensitive, and inclusive approach to justice. The Board wishes Mr. Emonet every success in his future endeavours.
Mr. Staberock and Mr. Emonet will work together with the JRR team to ensure a smooth leadership transition and continue providing technical support to JRR’s partners with the aim to promote the rights and access to justice of victims and survivors.
