JEP to Accredit 100 Male SGBV Survivors as Victims: A Landmark Decision

Justice Rapid Response welcomes the Special Jurisdiction for Peace’s (JEP) historic decision to accredit 104 men as victims of conflict-related sexual violence in the context of the Colombian armed conflict. This is a landmark decision that will pave the way for effective access to justice and remedies for more Colombian victims and survivors.
JRR has been a key actor to address sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), including gender persecution, through technical support to the JEP and local CSOs. By supporting All Survivors Project (ASP) to document cases of SGBV committed against men and boys, we contributed to shed light on overlooked crimes and promote an inclusive approach to justice in the context of Colombia’s transitional justice process.
JRR also helped ASP in their efforts to submit to the JEP collective and individual accreditation requests on behalf of male survivors of SGBV, resulting in the accreditation of over 100 male and non-binary survivors of conflict-related sexual violence so they could take part in the JEP’s justice process and continue their quest for justice.
By providing highly technical expertise to all justice actors, we promote an inclusive and holistic approach to justice, one that can contribute to peace.
