Justice Rapid Response at the Geneva Peace Week

This year, JRR will attend the Geneva Peace Week to screen the premiere of its new short-documentary film on The Gambia’s transitional justice process on October 16 (9h00 to 10h30 AM) at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (Maison de la Paix), conference room 4th floor.

The official programme will be released on 17 September and you will then be able to register on the Geneva Peace Week’s website (Check for our event entitled: Lessons from Survivors: Promoting a Victim-centered Approach in The Gambia’s Transitional Justice Process).

The film recalls how MsAyeshah Jammeh, human rights activist, survivor and niece of the former Gambian dictator Yahya Jammeh, lost her father to the hands of the jugglers, Yahya Jammeh’s killing squad. It also touches on her difficult experience with The Gambia’s transitional justice process, what challenges she is facing, what innovative approach to justice she pursues to promote justice through her own means, and what is still needed for her and many other Gambians to effectively obtain justice.

This will be followed a panel discussion with Ms. Jammeh, Gambian government representatives, representatives of the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) and JRR’s experts previously deployed in The Gambia.
