Release of Hasta que la vida nos alcance
Justice Rapid Response is pleased to release its new short-documentary film on Colombia’s transitional justice process, “Hasta que la vida nos alcance.” It showcases the path to justice of two survivors of the Colombian armed conflict, Neftalina Rosa Romero Guzmán and Jacqueline Castillo.
Both of them lost a relative in the context of a widespread campaign of extra-judicial killings called “falsos positivos” (false positives), during which thousands of civilians were killed by military and para-military personnel and presented by the authorities as guerrilleros killed in battle, in an effort to inflate body counts and receive promotions or other benefits.
Dive into their experience with the Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz, Colombia’s transitional justice mechanism, and into their quest to seek justice for their loved-ones.
A very special thank to César Rojas Ángel, our film director, for carrying out this project and for producing such a beautiful movie! Y gracias a las Sras Romero Guzmán y Castillo por compartir sus historias con nosotros y con el mundo.
This project was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada.
